Does the dashboard update by itself?
Yes. While the tab is open, the dashboard quietly checks for new activity. The notification bell number and the Home cards update on their own, and on lists such as Leads, Quotes and Invoices a small bar appears saying New activity with a Refresh button, so a page you are working on never changes under you. On a phone it checks when you come back to the tab. The owner can change how often, or switch it off, in the WordPress admin under Quotes & Invoices, Access.
